THE spirit of camaraderie and wanting to give back to society saw three organisations getting together for a worthy cause. After weeks of planning, their efforts paid off when residents of two welfare homes benefited from the Charity Gala Night 2019 fund-raising event. Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Malaysia in Bukit Gasing and Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Da Ai Malaysia in PJ Old Town were the beneficiaries. Both associations received RM10,000 and a wheelchair each. The main organiser was Pertubuhan Sosial dan Kemasyarakatan Bekas Polis Malaysia, supported by Tom’s Stickers Sdn Bhd and NCT Group of Companies.
Held at the Grand Ion Delemen Hotel, the event saw some 230 ex-policemen, guests and businessmen in attendance. Several famous personalities also lent their support, including Miss Malaysia Earth Eco Tourism 2014 Adelina Chan, professional racing driver Leona Chin, disc jockey Rachel B and local artist Billie Chong. Malaysia Book Of Records holder Jessica Loo also staged a splendid violin performance to mesmerise the crowd.
The organisation’s president Datuk R.M. Ravi expressed his gratitude to all sponsors and members for their strong support. Ravi said despite the trying times, he was touched to see so many people coming forward to offer a helping hand to the needy and less fortunate. “I would also like to thank the Prime Minister and the government for assisting welfare homes and charitable bodies despite facing financial constraints,” he said. Tom’s Stickers’ directors Tom Kek and Vincent Kek said their company was glad to play a vital part in organising the programme, putting to good use their past experiences in handling other charitable events. “We are also working on a special project to produce 10 short films to promote awareness for the needy community in Malaysia,” said Vincent.
NCT Group sales and marketing manager Jonathan Yam Yin Chen said they were proud to have the opportunity to help organise a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme with ex-policemen. “As a developer, this is part of our company’s philosophy to contribute and assist those in need to lessen their burden. “We hope to be able to do much more in the future,” Yam said.
Other top sponsors for the programme were Megine Group, Gloria Residences, Petlas and Velocity Event Management.
